Assessment patterns
Years 7-9
There is no formal assessment 7-9 of years but a written assessment is
made each term, either internally or as part of the whole school reporting
procedure, with programmes of study, and written comments from both student
and teacher. These reports are bound into an assessment folder/ pupil
guide. Each pupil is given a sketch book at the start of each year, and
it is intended that work done in these books form a visual record of achievement
over the three years. The display of work in the art room, exhibitions
around the school, and for specific school functions, and the reproduction
of work in school publications are all seen as opportunities for encouragement
and appreciation.
Years 10-11
Students work towards G.C.S.E. examinations. The pattern of assessment
remains the same, but with greater emphasis on individually motivated
projects presented for assessment as folders of work backed by sketchbooks
that show research and development of ideas and techniques.
Years 12-13
Students are working towards A and AS level examinations. The Assessment
pattern is similar to G.C.S.E., but with greater emphasis on an intellectual
understanding of the subject, with the setting and assessing of written
work.
