OBJECTIVES
YEARS 7 - 9
Most of the work is project based, aimed towards introducing basic resources,
tools, skills, and knowledge, and as a systematic introduction to a wide
range of media.
YEAR 10
Pupils are given a more specific introduction to the different disciplines
applicable as examination options within the G.C.S.E. Art syllabus. Work
is initially project based but it is expected that pupils will develop
an increasingly independent approach towards the end of the year. Research
and preparatory work are presented as essential to the successful completion
of project work.
YEAR 11
Teaching is based wholly on a personal tutorial system as pupils are
engaged on individual projects in the preparation of course work folders
for the G.C.S.E. options that they have chosen.
YEAR 12
Emphasis on strengthening technical skills through greater self - criticism
and by deeper understanding and study of artists and artifacts. Exposure
to demanding projects requiring a high level of personal research.
YEAR 13
The personal study required by the A'level examination demands a high
level of independent and original research from first - hand sources which
then has to be organised. A more mature and developed awareness of aesthetic
and comparative criteria is demanded in order to successfully complete
both the study and a portfolio of practical work for examination.
