Trips and Visits

It is a departmental policy to take all our students on at least one yearly visit to a gallery or museum. We believe that this experience is a vital part of the Art curriculum in school.

We have a programme of day trips through the year, and each year we also try to offer one major trip, either exclusively as an Art trip, or by combining forces with the Music Department.

In the recent past we have taken trips to New York, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, and Barcelona, most recently Italy, and perhaps 6th from trips weekend trips to Manchester an Liverpool next spring, maybe even Florence if we can book flights. At some time in the future we hope to do a major trip to Mexico to coincide with the day of the dead in November.

For many years we have run a weekend of Life drawing at Monkton Wyld Court, which has always been a great success.

We also run a number of shorter local visits, during the Somerset Arts weeks, and to other local galleries such as the excellent gallery at Millfield in Street.
