Proposed tripsWe have decided to put as many of the art trips as we can in the first half of the autumn term, while the art department is on the move between old and new accommodation. The first trip is Tuesday September the 16th, when we shall be taking yr 9 to the Pallant House gallery and the cathedral in Chichester. We leave at 9.00 and hope to be back between 6.30 and 7.00 The next trip is for Yr 7 and Yr 8. We have booked a visit to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London (taking along a small number of our 6th form students too) on Monday September the 29th. This will mean leaving Sidcot at 8.00 am, and we plan to be back by 7.00 pm, depending on traffic. Also during the middle two weeks of September we hope to be mini-bussing lots of our 6th form out to exhibitions of local artists that are taking part in the Somerset Arts Week. Highly recommended if you are local and have some spare time. We are planning a Yr 10 trip to the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff on Wednesday December the 3rd and a combined U5th and 6th form trip to London on Friday January the 30th (for timings see the departmental dates calendar) Ideas for future trips include: A day trip to Glasgow by air - this may well be both cheaper and quicker than the coach trip to London! A weekend flight to the Uffizi in Florence, and a weekend trip to Liverpool, Manchester and Bradford. This could be a combined trip with other Quaker schools, with overnight accommodation at Bootham. Ackworth, or both! A trip to Mexico has also long been a dream, somewhere near the autumn half term to coincide with the day of the dead. And finally, booked, the music trip to Italy in July - with a day trip to the wonderful Venice. |
